About the Event

"Winter was the Elder's time" says Darren Parry, Vice Chairman of the NW Band of the Shoshone Nation.  A time for stories & wisdom, passed down from one generation to another. We are pleased to welcome one such Elder as he shares a 1 hr Fireside Yurt story of Shoshone culture, tragedy, and hope in our Forest Yurt. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to Bichu-Nanewe or Return of the People, which aims to elevate the connection between indigenous wisdom and modern day learning.


January 29th marks the commemoration of The Bear River Massacre, one of the largest losses of Indigenous life at the hands of the Federal Government. To see our past, acknowledge it's pain, and integrate it's lessons is how we prepare for present opportunities and undertake future challenges.
