The river is on the rise. Movement and flow are inescapable.
The space is still, but never silent. Like before, when the land is Human free, wildlife naturally occupies its rightful place.
Turkey's are gobbling, on the run from the active hunt. Geese are bickering day and night, taking turns leading V's that seem to come and go with no predictability. While Swans have long since departed, pairing Bald Eagles are snatching fresh kill only feet from our pools.
Life is moving on. Nature demands it.
And, so, too, are we.
For now, we are still closed until May 1. But we know it's not natural, at least not for long.
